CD: I think everyone is pumped about the way Matthews is playing. It's so great to see that kind of energy, and it's bound to spark a lot of life in the team as a whole.

I, however, temper my enthusiasm with my "back-to-back" season rule of thumb. I've been watching this game and this team long enough to know that there have been many one-hit wonders. Players make a big splash and then disappear into the mundane.

Now, my gut feeling with Matthews is that this probably won't happen to him. I expect him to continue a climb to greatness. But, I'll need back-to-back seasons to know he's for real.

IPB: Word on the street is that they'll probably get Kampman healthy, tag him, and trade him to a team that needs an outstanding DE for their 4-3 defense.

What took you so long? Didn't you see or read about the lineage? Yea, I read your comment... just that your initial comment reads a bit diff than that.

The part I liked (to hear) was that after games, Clay's Dad will call him and go over where he might have made a mistake. If that ain't righteous, I don't know what is. (As if Kevin Greene needs help in that department....)

I think the real reason, or one of them, for his success ... is the fact that he didn't actually play all that much College ball. At first, it was a knock on him and everyone was a bit skeptical - NOW, it's like (well) we don't have that previous system to wash out of his head; we're simply learning on a fresh chalkboard. It has to help...

My BIGGER question, as long as he can stay healthy is - what do we do with Kampman? I see AJ Hawk's game went up a notch against Baltimore - will it continue?

Hey - don't forget BJ RAJI, with his (signature?) after-play move of "gimme some luv already". Previously I had hoped that Colin Cole would become our next Gravedigger ... but BJ RAJI is even moreso in that department.

Let's hope it continues. Matthews reminds me of that Linebacker down in Miami (and a few others in that league).
